Finding the time to take care of yourself can be a real challenge. But this is where respite come in. Respite is caregiver services performed by others(nurses, childcare or adult-care professionals) for a few hours in home or at a facility. In these hours you can get what you need done and your child can have the care he or she needs and deserves. If the respite is done in a group session, there is the added benefit of peer interaction. There are programs and support groups that offer respite services. I have found this service extremely helpfull in locating respite providers.

Every time you miss your Doctor's appointment, you don't know where you stand. It is a huge responsiblity, this care-taking. The job is filled with stress and complications from this stress can be very significant. Don't think for a minuet that stress does not effect your body. Keep every one of your appointments. Really....you don't expect your car to go the distance without a tune-up or tire rotation....how can you.
Find a release. Whether that is Yoga, Meditation or some indulgent pampering. Pampering can be done a your local Manicure shop - Pedicures and Manicures are cheap but relaxation you feel by being pampered is priceless.
Hobbies are great distractions. There are sooo many inexpensive ones out there and they can be sooo therapeutic.
Another great distraction is on-line gaming. It's perfect for those of us who can't get out much. You don't have to pay a sitter and you can really zone out and take your mind off of the every day struggles of parenting our little miracles.
